Writing News

Last night I began editing a fantasy/mystery short story I wrote a couple of weeks ago. The story is the first in what I hope to be a series of stories centered around the character Gorac, a detective in my fictional city-state Battersea's City Guard. The The story lacks a title but right now I am leaning towards calling it "The Incident on the Wall".

This morning I received a form rejection from Chronogram for a piece of poetry I wrote called "Dreams of Empire". This poem I know is going to have a hard time finding a home as it is to speculative for mainstream magazines and not speculative enough for speculative magazines.

I also want to say congratulations to my fellow SF Canada member Phyllis Gotlieb on selling her new novel Birthstones to Robert J. Sawyer Books. Woohoo Phyllis!

Hungry Eyes

I submitted a short poem titled "Hungry Eyes" today to the Mount Zion Speculative Fiction Review. "Hungry Eyes" is a short horror poem that is in the vain of some of the old Weird Tales poems by Smith, Lovecraft, and Howard.

SF Canada

I am pretty happy today. Edward Willett informed me today that I have been accepted for membership in SF Canada, an association for Canadian speculative fiction writers.

Writing News

Well lately I have been pretty bummed about my writing after I received several rejections but today I was pleasently surprised. Today I received an e-mail from Bill Snodgrass, the editor of The Sword Review, who wished to use my poem for a future issue of The Sword Review. I have really wanted to get into this publication ever since I found it as it is a wonderful magazine. I am proud to be able to contribute to it.

Another piece of writing news. Today I wrote a poem about the action that leads to World War III. I will leave it for a few days, then read and send it off somewhere.

Rejections

Today I got a rejection letter from Atomjack today concerning my short sci-fi poem "How The First Warp Engine Came To Be". The rejection letter said it had little emotion and I agree with that. I got another rejection letter today from Tales of the Talisman concerning my poem "Medusa's Statues" which Mr. Summers said was well written but he felt their was stronger poems opn the shortlist. Oh well. I will submit these poems to other markets latter today.
